The Encounter

"I have taken thousands of photos but some have left their imprint on me and the incidents associated with them are unforgettable.

I was with the ex Prime Minister of India, Sri. Rajiv Gandhi, at SriPerumbudur when he succumbed to a suicide bomber's attack. The distance between my life and death was two minutes.

My camera strap was caught in the van and I pulled at it vigorously. But God was holding it at the other end and saved my life. Had I walked along with Sri. Rajiv Gandhi, I would have died with him.

When I heard the explosion and saw people running helter-skelter I just picked up my camera and started clicking. They were the only photos available of the incident at that time.

I was working for Junior Vikatan, a Tamil magazine at that time."

(This blog is actually written by my uncle MAAPS. Or rather i copy-pasted it from his homepage. I hope he doesnt mind but I couldnt resist. I wanted to share it with you all.

The Chuckle

This is an infant's Chuckle...It shows the innocence within, doesn't it? No worries about making ends meet. No worries abt what to eat for dinner... absolutely no worries abt anything...not even worried abt where to go to the toilet!!! Every person he meets is a friend...he opens his arms wide and welcomes them into his world. He smiles his ever sweet smile for them...Whenever he sees or hears something funny, he chuckles his innocent Chuckle....so when was the last time any of us had a Chuckle?

World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day. Let us all join hands and help spread AIDS awareness. Here's a start:
  • AIDS stands for Acquired ImmunoDefficency Syndrome
  • AIDS is caused by Human Immuno Virus(HIV)
  • HIV attacks the body's white blood cells and damages the body's defenses against infection
HIV is known to spread in four main ways:
  • Un-protected sexual intercourse
  • From a mother to the foetus
  • By using needles that have been already used on an infected person.
  • Transfer of HIV infected blood.
India is one of the highest HIV infected countries in the world. More and more people are diagnosed with HIV and AIDS everyday.

This can be changed only with proper literacy about the disease. Let us not shun the poor souls that have been infected. Let us not look upon them as sinners. Let us look upon them as people who need our understanding and our support. Let us help our brothers and sisters overcome fear of the disease.

Our Beautiful Planet

This is a satellite image of the Earth that i found on a NASA website. Part of the description for this image goes..." This spectacular “blue marble” image is the most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth to date." The earth is a beautiful place. It is meant to be protected and respected. But have we been true to our heart in protecting or even respecting the earth(read as Mother Nature...). Surely not. I keep saying that we have angered Mother Nature so much that she is rising to the occassion and showing her fury in different ways. The Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the floods in India... the list is endless...these series of natural calamities in a given period of time cannot be just co-incidences. I believe there is something divine watching over us and that divinity is VERY ANGRY....what do we do to repair the damage? or is the damage too far gone to repair????What do you think?

My Phone

This is my cell phone. My uncle gifted it to me when my son was born. I just love this phone..its got everything i want on a phone..mostly for me it works like a digital camera. i take almost all my pictures on my phone. Sagar loves it too and wants to play with it... i show him his own pictures in it hoping that wen he sees his pictures on my fone and when he sees himself in a mirror he will recognize he is looking at himself faster. he is a sharp kid and learns things quickly.....this phone is very close to my heart.
